Born and raised in West Texas, J.R. grew up in a Christian family and came to know Jesus in the 6th grade. He always thought he would follow in his father’s footsteps as a high school football coach, but the Lord had other plans. After feeling a clear call to ministry early in college, JR served in 3 churches and a non-profit organization before coming to Abilene. J.R. and Amy and their three boys—Tom, Ben, and Joe—became part of The Well family in 2015, with him officially joining the staff in 2016.
As one of our Lead Pastors, J.R. Cochran brings his passion for equipping and organizational leadership to serve The Well as faithfully as he can.
